A field of midnight blue, still as deep water, encircling a surface traced with glowing gold.
The lines do not hide the fractures — they honour them. Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, each golden seam is a reminder that what has been broken can become more beautiful than before.
The coachline — finished by hand using paint made from the purest gold — is a study in discipline. A single, steady gesture requiring patience, control, and the kind of devotion that cannot be faked.
Each ashtray begins with Oudism Bone China, the highest grade of porcelain.
Prized for its strength, translucency, and warm ivory hue, bone china offers a refinement few materials can match. The clay is milled to a fine softness, cast with precision, and hand-inspected so every contour feels calm beneath the fingertips.
The piece is fired above 1,300°C, forming a body that is feather-light yet remarkably strong. Over this form, artisans apply the Midnight glaze — a deep, lustrous hue — before laying the kintsugi-inspired gold seams and hand-painting the rim by hand in gold. Once the gold is set, the piece is fired again at a lower temperature, permanently fusing every line of gold into the bone china beneath.
The result is an object that is both ceremonial and poetic:
Light yet grounded, contemporary yet ancient — a reminder that beauty can come from repair, and ritual can be a form of restoration.
Before it reaches you, every ashtray undergoes a final inspection.
Only those meeting our highest standards of colour, finish, and refinement are allowed to leave the studio.
